Warning Signs

The doorway facing me allows a slivered
fractional view of a streetside window.
Through the left lower corner, a sign
across the way warns, No Trespassing.

I have no intention of propelling myself
out of my seat and across the room,
through the window and over the street.
The Merc is safe, for now, from invasion.

Had an alternate sign instead been posted,
say, No Trespassing Without Permission,
I might pose a completely different threat.
What in this broken nation is not permissible?

About Greg Wright

I have worn many hats as a writer and editor over the years. Unlike my scholarly and journalistic work from the "old days" at Hollywood Jesus, Past the Popcorn, or SeaTac Blog, the writing here is of a more overtly personal and spiritual nature. I hope it provokes you as much as it provokes me.
